Gettting Real

I haven't blogged in a while, but the mood has struck tonight, so here you go.

A huge part of being an author is promo. In fact, sometimes it seems as if we spend more time promoting our work than actually writing it.

The problem? I have Major Depressive Disorder. Sometimes it's so hard for me to get out there and put a smile on my virtual face. It's hard to reach out when I'm unsure if anyone will reach back. And that's what promo is...putting yourself and your work out there for readers to embrace, reject, or ignore.

Doing this when I'm under a black cloud of depression is especially difficult.

I wonder sometimes if it's worth it...if anyone out there in readerland is enjoying my work. Right now, I don't know.
