Hey, Ladies! (Get Funky)
We interrupt this nervous breakdown to bring you an update.
It's 1:02 PM and sexactly (that was a typo, but I like it and am keeping it) one week until Christmukkah. I'm sitting here in a black nightgown that says "Hot Lips" across the front in rhinestones, listening to the Beastie Boys amd getting the December issue of my zine ready to go.
Last night I did my first shopping of the holiday season, with stops at Ulta and Barnes & Nobles. Also stopped at The Candle House to get lightable wax things for Yule, Christmas, and Hanukkah, respectively. At B&N I got a Laurell K. Hamilton (I'm up to book 4 in the Anita Blake series) and two Jewish cookbooks. Also "Undead And Unappreciated" which is now out in paperback! Vampires and matzo balls, oh my!
I'm working on my St. Paddy's day release for Midnight Showcase and a Hot Flash for Changeling. At some point, I plan to get dressed and get my prescriptions filled. And there's got to be some food in there somewhere. I'm having my Saturnalia party tonight, with a pasta dinner (I couldn't quite convince myself to cook anything authentic from ancient Rome) and tree trimming. Put on your toga and drop by!
Really, it's fun to be a half Jew-half Catholic with pagan leanings during the holidays. I wouldn't trade my bizarro dual identity for anything. Except, perhaps, the ability to spell.
