Flaming Pop-Tarts: An Evacuation Tale
1. Having to pack in a rush and load up the car in 105 degree heat 2. Getting rear ended right before hitting the evacuation route 3. Spending 6 hrs in the car during what would normally be a 90 min trip 4. Driving 2 MPH most of the way there 5. The car running hot because it's going so slow 6. Having to turn off the AC because of running hot 7. No gas or food left anywhere in the town where we evacuated Riots erupt. Trapped in motel because gas lines at neighboring stations wrap around for blocks. 8. Three humans and two animals sleeping in one bed for a week 9. Sick dog, having to drive to a neighboring town just to find a vet 10. Dad going into breathing distress and having to call 911 11. Dad goes into hospital in neighboring town 12. Hospital is full of evacuees so we have to leave him alone there overnight and return to motel room in another town 13. Evacuated mental patient with nowhere else to go in the room next to his screams 24 hrs a day 14. Getting the flu the day before returning home. 15. Setting the microwave on fire while attempting to cook pop-tarts in motel room.
My first contract for a paranormal romance: priceless.
